Plagiarism
General rule
The rule is very simple: All content (text, figures, tables, code, etc.) in your submission has to be produced by yourself. Don't copy any content from other students, the internet, LLMs, or anything else.
You can take inspiration from other sources, discuss with other students, etc. But generate all your content yourself (never copy-paste anything).
Equations are a special case. These can of course be exactly the same as other sources, if you stick to the same notation. However, never screenshot and paste equations. Write them yourself in Latex.
Referencing:
If you use an idea from someone else, then you do need to add a reference.
You don't need to add references for material from the lecture slides, textbook or assignment text. For most assignments you therefore don't need to add references.
Control:
Your report and code is automatically processed through Turnitin, which also checks for overlap with other student submissions and the internet.
Plagiarism is absolutely forbidden, and will be reported to the exam committee. In severe and/or repeated cases, this may have serious consequences, up to ejection from the study programme.
Explaining your work:
When we ask you, you should always be able to explain your own work (what you wrote and coded).
Note: When you come to us at a practical with a piece of code you can't explain, this is obviously problematic.
